Modern Sustainable Prefabs With Cork Floors

01/22/2012

Davis Studio Architecture + Design have taken upon themselves to modernize the pre-fab home and I honestly feel they have elevated it to a new pinnacle of sustainable and contemporary. The pre-fab homes come as a base model and then a customer can customize to their taste. The modules are then built in factories and brought to a job site nearly complete making for a very quick completion.

The first eP: Studio was installed in Venice, CA on Feb 25, 2010. The single module was forklifted into place on top of a garage that was built on-site. Providing an office and some extra living space for an older Venice home, the module has green features such as cork flooring, no-VOC paints and an efficient heat pump. The module arrived nearly 100% complete from the factory, including a half-bath.
